![]() Once upon a time there lived a monkey and a frog. The monkey worked for a king who wanted to taste frog legs. So the king sent the monkey on a journey to find frog legs. The monkey came upon a bird. The monkey said to the bird, " Have you seen a frog?" The bird said, "Tweet, tweet, tweet." The monkey said, "Birds don't make any sense." Then the monkey came upon a wolf. The monkey asked the wolf, "Have you seen a frog?" The wolf said, "Awooo. Awooo. Awooo." The monkey said, "Wolves don't make any sense." Then the monkey came upon a pond. "There must be a frog in this pond," the monkey thought. Then the monkey saw something plunge into the pond. The monkey said, "This must be a frog." The frog came up to the surface and the monkey said, "Will you come with me to a castle to meet the king?" The frog said, Why does the king want to meet me?" The monkey said, "Because he wants to try frog legs." The frog gulped and said, " I left my frog legs at the bottom of the pond. You'll have to get them to show to the king." The monkey said, "I can't swim." The frog said, "It's too bad, because my frog legs are at the bottom of the pond." And the frog started to swim away. "Wait," the monkey said. "I'll try and get them." The frog watched as the monkey stepped into the water. The water got deeper and deeper. The monkey started to drown. "Help, help," said the monkey. The frog felt bad for the monkey and helped him to shore. "Hey," said the monkey looking at the frog's legs. "You tricked me." "But your king wanted to eat my frog legs," the frog said. "You're right and you saved my life so I'll let you go," said the monkey. "But what am I going to tell the king?" "I've got an idea," said the frog, "the king has never seen frog legs, right?" "Right," said the monkey. "Then, take back these sticks and tell him they are frog legs." "Okay," said the monkey. The monkey took the sticks to the king. The king had his cook prepare the sticks for dinner. "Yuck," said the king when he tasted the sticks. "I hate frog legs." The king never asked for the frog legs again. The frog lived happily ever after in the pond and the monkey visited many times. |
