| The Cartier Years at Copper Creek Lodge, 1919 Copper Crerek Lodge was built by lumber baron and former Mayor of South Bend Washington, George Robinson Cartier in about 1920. He retired at age 50, and moved to Copper Creek at Mt Rainier with his younger wife Jessie. The attention to detail and craftsmanship are present everywhere. . . carefully fitted close grain logs, stout dutch doors with bow tie dove tails, hand split cedar shakes, stone fireplace and beautiful wood floors throughout. |

| Natalie Cartier was born at the lodge in 1925. The family lived
at Copper Creek until 1931 when Natalie started school.

| Sometime before 1946 a bridge was built over Copper Creek to connect
Copper Creek Inn to Copper Creek Lodge. The bridge washed out
in a flood in the late 70's.

| A Mr. Parrish owned the property until 1951. He traded the lodge
property for Roy Van Cleave's property in Kennewich, consisting
of a house with a basement apartment, a small cottage, and a lucrative
Mobile gas station. (All built by Roy in 1943.)
