BUSH ISN'T PRO-LIFE Ever since George W. Bush began his campaign for President I have been deeply troubled. One of his major campaign issues focused on the issue of abortion and the pro-life movement. However, Bush's record in Texas, and in life for that matter, seems to show what the antithesis of the pro-life philosophy might look like. I believe pro-life to mean more than just anti-abortion. I believe it to mean sustaining all life at all costs. That includes those who will suffer and possibly die because they did not have access to adequate healthcare or the social support that was necessary in their time of need. That includes the execution of death row inmates (Bush endorsed the execution of 158 people as governor of Texas). And that includes the thousands of innocent civilians that will be killed or disappeared because of our increased military presence in countries where we have no business being. Oh, that's right, it's because of our businesses that we're there in the first place! Life is sacred and it is wrong whenever it is unjustly taken. Electing Bush may have saved the unborn but it also sealed the fate of millions of people all over the world. These are people, young and old, who will suffer and die as a direct result of his policies. So let's not fool ourselves by pretending that Bush's administration will only save lives. Please, in the name of God, let's start thinking of right-to-life as a fundamental Christian principle for all those living, not just the unborn! Paige Justice Your response to this letter is welcome. Response to Bush Isn't Pro Life Soon I hope to visit your town to do some business but first I decided to check it out online beforehand. Anyway, I read an article that agreed with in part, however mostly I disagreed. READ MORE |
