Our poor health habits and degraded food has left us with a generation suffering from what experts are calling the "chronic subclinical everything syndrome." I've seen some of these children lately in my practice. Their health problems possibly started even before they were born, when their parents' health was compromised during and after conception.
With a few changes, a child's health can improve because their constitutions are stronger than adults and seniors. The following are some suggestions to make those changes: 1. Feed them a healthy diet, high in fresh fruits, vegetables, grains, and proteins, low in fats and sugars. Sugar and food additives are extremely damaging to our immune systems. Some sweet tastes in a child's diet are good, but better to get it from fruit than candy.
2. Give them a high-potency multiple vitamin/mineral every day.
3. Feed them "superfoods" for extra nutrition. Examples are: bee pollen, blue-green algae, rice bran syrup, molasses, clarified butter, sesame oil, or barley greens/wheat grass.
4. Show them a healthy lifestyle. If you eat healthy, exercise, stop smoking and drinking, they will tend to adopt these same habits.
5. Encourage physical activity. National Public Radio ran a report on how out-of-shape Americans are compared to the rest of the world. It's no surprise when our kids' main form of recreation is sitting in front of a television or computer.
In February only, the Reiki workshop will be held the second Tuesday: February 12 from 7 to 9pm at Eatonville's Wellness Center. It is free to anyone curious about this ancient form of touch healing.
